Supporting Equity for Women in the Audio Industry

In Canada, women represent about 5% of the audio industry*. If we want change, we need meaningful action. Advocating for the growth of skilled female audio engineers includes finding solutions to the problems women face, breaking down barriers, educating our community of the important role women have as professionals, and empowering them to pursue their dream of working in an exciting and vibrant industry.

Providing a combination of valuable training through the Audio in Media programme and benefits of the AWS Scholarship; MOSMA is proud to support the advancement of female audio engineers in our community and collaborate with industry partners to provide resources for females pursuing careers in audio production.

Providing Support

Reducing financial barriers through scholarships can empower women to achieve higher levels of technical training, attain better job opportunities, and improve their earning potential; this can have a positive impact on their careers, families, and society. This scholarship makes technical training accessible, covering a substantial portion of tuition and school fees. It enables more focus on studies rather than worrying about finances.

Equipping for Success

Our partners in audio technology are here to support recipients of the Advancing Women in Sound Scholarship by providing access to the tools they need post-graduation. Reducing the cost to purchase industry standard tools will help further advance their skills and ensure readiness in attaining job opportunities after graduation.

Shaping Future Careers

A paid internship provides an opportunity to demonstrate skill and creativeness while you engage with professionals already in the industry; gaining valuable skills, industry insight, and advice on pursuing your career. Networking through an internship promotes a higher visibility of women in the workplace, it allows women to demonstrate a high skill level and competence equal to any other audio engineer entering the industry.
